Max asked how he could make his as big as mine.
We are talking, of course, about posting pictures here in the NJRC forum. Whatever were you thinking?
Anyway, he really did ask...in this thread...which I will use as an example in my notes below:
njreplicarclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cars&action=display&thread=2
There are two ways to post pictures.
You may add pictures to your post as an attachment. Which is what Max did in the thread linked above. Proboards uploads your picture, and creates a thumbnail for it. If you click on the picture of Max's speedster, the full size photo will open.
The other method requires that you store your pictures in some on-line resource like photobucket or snapfish. There are others. I happen to prefer photobucket.
After you store your picture, you will be able to copy a url link that has "" formatting. Proboards uses the img/url link to display the full size picture within the post. This is how the pictures of my MG are linked in the above thread. One note, I've learned through experience that this works best if there are no spaces in your source file name.
Is one approach better than the other?
The primary advantage of the photobucket approach is your pictures display full size, without the reader clicking on them. In addition, this approach does not use any of the storage space that proboards provides. The primary downside is if you move or delete your photos from photobucket, the link will be broken and your pictures will no longer display here.
The primary advantage to uploading your pictures as attachments is that they will always be here. One downside is the reader has to click through the thumbnail to see the full picture. Another downside is that we will eventually use up the free storage that proboards provides.
So, there you go. Feel free to ask questions. I'll be glad to help!
